VBS Stories - Real Treasure

Please pray for our daycamp ministry at Lighthouse Bible Church this week. I am teaching the 4-5 yr. olds. This is the story for DAY THREE.

Real Treasure
(Luke 15:11-32)

Jesus told many stories to teach us about God. One story was about a lost son. A man had two boys. They grew up, taller and stronger until they were men. The younger son wanted to see the world. He didn't want to live at home anymore. He asked his father for his share of the money. The father was sad, but he gave the son his money and watched him leave.

The son traveled to a far country. He bought nice clothes and good food and had lots of parties for his friends. He bought more and more things until his money was all gone. His friends went away, and he was all alone.

He didn't have anything. He didn't have any place to live. He didn't have any friends. He didn't have any food. He was very hungry. He got a job feeding pigs. He was so hungry that even the pigs' food looked good to him.

The son was lonely. He wanted to go home. He was sorry that he left home. He thought that maybe he could be a servant in his father's house because even the servants had some food and clothes. He decided to go back home.

His father watched every day for his son to come home. When the father saw his son a long way off, he ran to him and hugged him. He told his servants to bring him some good clothes and to make a feast because his son was home.

The father loved his son. He was very happy that he came back home. God loves us. He is very happy when we say we're sorry and come back to Him.

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 86:5
"For Thou, Lord, art good,
and ready to forgive."
