Puddles of Pollywogs

It rained this summer. I mean, really rained. The whole month of June, it rained almost every single day.

On one side of our driveway is a low area that usually forms a small pond in the spring with melted snow and April showers. By June it begins drying up--not this year!

The little pond overflowed into our driveway, spilling hundreds--maybe thousands--of tadpoles into the driveway. The water bubbled with squirming, wiggling black balls with tails.

I called the neighborhood kids, and they rescued many into the larger pond nearby. Later I noticed a gathering of crows and raccoon paw prints in the mud.

It rained again yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if some survive long enough to develop legs and hop out themselves.

Check out Lynette's Blog for more memory stories.

That's really neat, I've never seen a tadpole up close like that.

I've never seen a picture of a tadpole like this. Such a great shot you captured with the camera.

*blush* (confession: I got some of these pictures on photobucket
...tadpoles, raccoon tracks and frog.) I did take the pictures of the puddles, with mosquitoes biting my arms and face. I tried to take them of the tadpoles and tracks, but the puddles were muddy and the rain washed the tracks away last night.

sorry!

Hi Yvonne!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today and sharing some of your story about how you started writing! Wow, 8 kids! What a blessed woman you are! I have 5 and just consider myself incredibly blessed. Sounds like you've come to a point in your life where you are able to really enjoy writing!

Hope to chat with you more! Stop by again!

Hi Yvonne,
I'm JUST getting to responding to these. Sunday seems to be the best day for me to do that.

I noticed that your blog wasn't linked properly - which is probably why you didn't get as many comments as usual. You mixed up two letters in the word ministry in the blog address. Copying and pasting saves me! :)

Thanks for the neat post. I think that tadpoles (pollywogs) are just cool. I accidentally smooshed one with a bucket when I was a kid and I'll never forget it. :(
