God's Ways

A few months ago, I memorized Isaiah 55. It's so great when God's Word is in your heart to teach and to comfort just when you need it most.

Verses 8-11 say,
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

We don't understand why God took Kayla to be with Him. We may think of lots of "what if's" or try to reason out things, but we don't know. We just need to trust God, that He is in control and knows best.

Yesterday, Benjamin spoke in church because our pastor was sick. Benjamin spoke on this thought-of God being God. He told of how faithful Kayla was to JOY Club, even when she might be the only one who showed up. She went from a sad and serious loner to a happy girl, hungry to learn the Bible verses and stories. We found out after she died that she told her aunt that she had asked Jesus to be her Savior.

Pray for my son, Benjamin, as he talks to the JOY club kids tonight. Also, he has been asked to speak at her funeral. Pray that God will give him guidance and grace to speak just the words that are needed. Pray for Kayla's family, many of who do not know the Lord.

We have a peace that Kayla is with the Lord. I'm praying that many others will find this peace, too.
