Monday Manna - God With Us
Today, I am joining Joanne Sher on her Monday Manna . Be sure to see the other thoughts on...
John 1:14
"And the Word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld His glory, the glory
as of the only begotten of the Father)
full of grace and truth."
There was no other way.
For God to deal with sin, there was no other way but for His perfect and holy Son to become man and take our punishment for sin. We could not understand God's holiness. We did not know Him. He had to stoop to our level, lower than the angels. He covered His glory to become like us.
God with us...Emmanuel.
He had a body like ours, one that got tired and hungry. As a child, he had wiggly teeth and skinned his knees. He had to learn to read and tie his shoes.
Yet... He was God.
He had the wisdom of the universe. He knew men's hearts. He could heal and forgive. He was full of "grace and truth", perfect integrity. He willingly put aside His majesty and glory,
even the Father's fellowship,
for us.
Philippians 2:6-8
"Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
Not many really knew who He was while He walked with them. John later writes of Jesus "That which was from the beginning, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life."
God with us!

I always think of the Philippians 2 passage when I hear this verse, too. Great post - thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Such a profound truth. Praise Him for what He did for us!
