"My God is So Great"

I teach the K-2 Sunday School class.
They love to sing the song -

"My God is great, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing my God cannot do..."

The class has been learning about miracles, and they are quick to say they're things only God could do.

While sitting next to an elderly man at our fellowship dinner, one little fellow was asked what he learned in Sunday School. The boy retold the story of Elisha throwing a stick in the water and making a heavy ax-head float.

The man exaggerated his surprise.
"None of my ax-heads would ever float!"

"Oh, it was just another miracle.
God does them all the time."

It made me wonder if I see God that way. Why should it be a surprise to see my God work in His mighty way? Can't He do anything?

My God can provide for my needs. He arranges jobs and the sale of a house. He controls the weather and even the spread of germs. He can open doors of opportunity and shut paths that I wish to follow. He directs certain people into my life - some that encourage me, others that need my help.

So, the next time I see a miracle, something only God can do, I hope I have the confidence and assurance of a little child to know, of course, God can do it.
He does it all the time!

Out of the mouths of babes. No wonder Jesus told us to have faith like a child. Thanks for sharing this, Vonnie!
