Murmuring

It's been raining and raining and raining all summer, and I have been complaining and complaining and complaining. Everything is sticky and sour and muddy. I tried to hang clothes on the line, but they're wetter now than when I took them out of the washing machine.

Yesterday, my son Benjamin spoke at the Tall Pines nursing home. It really pricked my heart. He showed us verse after verse of how the Children of Israel murmured and grumbled even after they saw God's mighty power. He parted the Red Sea and provided manna and brought water from the rock, yet they wished they were back in Egypt as slaves. They didn't trust Him to provide as He had in the past.

Psalm 106:24,25
Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word: but murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

I know my God is a great God and does what is best for me. Why should I grumble about a little water? I'm saying that God doesn't know what He's doing, that I know a better way of doing things.

Phil. 2:13-15

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

We should be like Paul and Silas, singing in the dark times of our life. He's still God. He is with us and is caring for us, no matter our circumstances.

Lord, forgive me for my sinful attitude. May I take each day (raining or snowing or sunshine) as a gift from you.

Lord, teach me to give thanks in all things, for You do all things well. Teach my lips to sing Your praise instead of complaining.

Lord, give me eyes to see Your blessings. Give me faith to trust You day by day.

"Why should I care if the sun doesn't shine?
Jesus is mine, all of the time.
Why should I care if the storm clouds hang low,
Jesus is with me; I know
He will never forsake me,
I'm under His wing.
Tho' trials o'ertake me,
I will praise Him and sing,
I am ever so happy.
So, why should I care if the sun doesn't shine?
Jesus is mine all the time.

Oh Vonnie - remember this? The sun will come out tomorrow... LOL. The sun is out here and wow - it is hot.

Isn't it funny when our kids teach us something? That means you've taught him well.

Vonnie, I like your picture of the clothes on the line,...and of the reminder to stop murmuring because of the rain!... And all of the other stuff we complain about!!!

Such a good reminder my friend.

There is so much to give thanks for. Everyday He loads us with benefits,...great is His faithfulness to us!

Blessings From Above,
