"Like a Tree"

In a snowstorm or ice storm, the birch, the willows, and the poplar trees bend way over. They look like they are going to break, but they don't. The pine trees and oak trees look stronger, but they are the ones that snap and break and lose limbs. The limber trees will be touching the ground, but after a few days will stand up again. Their strength is their weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:10
"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches,
in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake:
for when I am weak, then am I strong."

When storms hit me, I need to be like the limber, tender trees. I need to give in to the weight of the trials that come my way. If I resist and try to stand in my own strength, I will break. My strength through the storm will be my weakness, my dependence and trust that God will sustain me through it. When it is all over, I can get back up and live for Him.

Psalm 1:1
" He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
