Jello Popcorn Balls

This recipe has always been a favorite at our house. Have fun!

Pop 6-8 quarts of popcorn. (1 cup of popcorn cooked in an air popper)
(I haven't tried microwave popcorn. If it works, let me know.)

Melt:
1 stick of butter or margerine (either in microwave or in heavy pan)

Add:
1 pkg of marshmallows

Stir well.

Add:
1 sm. pkg. of Jello (your favorite flavor or color)

Stir well, again.

Pour over popped corn.

Grease palms with shortning or butter.

Form balls (or other shapes)and place on wax paper (or greased cookie sheets) (It cools quickly, so work quickly.)

While cooling, wash bowls and pans and spoons with hot, soapy water.

EAT !!!!

(Try different colors, flavors, and shapes. Tell me about your ideas.)

Oh! This is easy enough, I think even I could do this one! My mom used to always make popcorn balls for us when we were little. Never a recipe this easy, tho. Thanks!

Wow! I thought Jello and popcorn would be a really weird mix, but it turned out great!! I did change the recipe a little though, here's what I made:

I had leftover movie popcorn (a full "small" sized bag) that I baked at 250 to crisp it up and make it hot, while i was melting the other ingredients.

I added about 1/4 cheerios
and 1/4 cup dried cherries
and a tiny handful of peanuts

I used Tropical Fruit Jello (flavor of cherries, orange and pineapple)

And I only had about 5 or 6 large marshmallows

I melted half a stick of butter with about 1/4 honey and 2-3 tbs sugar in a saucepan and cooked it on Med-Low until frothy, then I added the marshmallows, cooked it until melted, added the Jello and stirred until combined.

In the meantime I got the popcorn out of the oven and tossed it on a buttered baking sheet with the cheerios and cherries and then poured the sugar-Jello mix over the popcorn, tossed it with a wooden spoon until cool enough to handle, and then I molded them into oblong balls onto sucker sticks!

They came out delicious, chewy sweet and salty popcorn candy!

Thanks for the idea!
