My dear friend, Jan Ackerson, who has been a mentor and inspiration to many of us at Faithwriters, has a unique blog. 100 Words holds a collection of micro-short stories, each one being only 100 words - no more, no less.
For the A2Z Meme today, I decided to try my hand at 100 Words. (It's not easy!)
(I had a picture, but it will detract from the imagination.)
TRUST ME
"I'm scared!"
"I'm right here. Don't be afraid."
"But I can't see you."
"Trust me. Have I failed you in the past?"
"No."
"And I won't fail you now. Follow my voice."
I inch forward a few steps with my arms flailing before me, trying to touch something--anything!
"That's right. Keep walking. I'm right here."
Confidence begins filling my spirit.
"Now jump."
"Jump?!"
"I'll catch you. Don't be afraid."
I hold my breath and fling myself into the misty unknown.
"See? That wasn't so bad."
My blindfold is removed, and I can see.
"I'm in Heaven!"
"Yes, child."

Some days 100 words can feel like 1 million.

Lots of goodness packed into one hundred words! Great job, Vonnie!
Walking is one thing - but jumping? Yikes! :) Good job, Vonnie! It was fun but hard, wasn't it?
Vonnie! total creativity - captivating and beautiful!
And i feel it is a picture of where I am at right now. (Only jumping into his arms rather than heaven although heaven would not be bad for sure!
Thanks, Laury, Rita, and Diana. It was fun, but challenging. I think I'll try it again sometime.
Marijo, I had another ending, but it was too many words. My original thought was jumping into His arms and feeling safe. I might have been able to work it, but then I thought that our final act of trust would be "jumping" into eternity.
Powerful. Reminded me of something my husband says... "It takes faith to do." Trust is a huge part of faith, even when it comes to letting go of this life.
This gave me goosebumps. I envisioned someone on their deathbed fighting to let go.
Great job!
So powerful. Great stuff, Vonnie!
WOW, Vonnie! Very powerful. You did so well to connect to my emotions in a short hundred words!
Thanks for all the encouraging comments. This was fun to do. I'm going to try it again sometime.
Ooh! I like this, Vonnie. and think I needed this today. Thanks!! =]
