“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you,and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26
Today, I'm joining in Joanne Sher's Monday Manna. Twice each month she chooses a verse to share her thoughts about. Today's is an Aaronic Benediction. I'm not Jewish, but God has certainly blessed me.
The first thought I have is a song -
"Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done..."
Whenever I find myself grumbling or discouraged, I start naming the things that God has given me. It doesn't take long before I feel rich and full and privileged because God has showered me with blessings. (Oh! That's another song!)
1. God created me. He knew me and designed me.
2. Jesus left heaven and came to earth to die for me.
3. The Holy Spirit lives within me-guiding me, keeping me.
4. Each day is a gift of life to use for my Lord.
5. God gave me a loving husband, one perfectly suited for me.
6. He blessed us with eight wonderful children.
7. I have healthy body and a sound mind to use for His service.
8. My home is strong and warm and cozy. (built by my husband)
9. I live in a nation where I have freedom to worship God.
10. The wonders of nature greet me as I step out my door.
I could continue on and on.
Our first and last thoughts of each day should be of thanksgiving to God. It will teach us to be content and fill our hearts with His peace.
So...what are you thankful for today?
Can you name at least five?
