"God is Very Near"

Today, I am joining my good friend, Joanne Sher's, in Monday Manna. Be sure to visit her blog, An Open Book for other thoughts on this verse:

Deuteronomy 30:11-14 "For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it."

When my kids were very small they learned a simple song in Sunday School.

"God is very near.
God is very near.
He hears us when we sing or pray.
God is very near."

Some people believe that God made the world, but that He only started everything and is out there somewhere--a great power beyond human thought or touch. But the Bible shows us differently.

God wants to near us and with us and in us. God loves us...
enough to send His Son to show Himself to us.
Jesus is God's Word to us,
so that we might understand Him.

"In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God."
(John 1:1)

The Almighty God wants to be our Friend.
Wow!
Take a moment to think about that.

"I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."
(John 15:15)

Even though Jesus is not here on earth in the flesh.
We can't see Him or touch Him, He is still with us.
He has given us His Spirit to dwell in us.

Jesus said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
(Hebrews 13:5)

"I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."
(John 14:16,17)

Do you feel His presence? Do you hear Him speaking to you?
God is very near.
