"No Excuse"

I invite you to join me in learning John 14. Each week I plan to learn a new verse. I will "recite" what I have learned before and give a short study of the next verse. You may email your "recitation" to me or put it as a comment below the post. I am using the KJV. If you use another, please let me know.

(without looking at my Bible)
John 14:1-6
1. Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in Me.
2. In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am, there ye may be also.
4. And whither I go ye know and the way ye know.
5. Thomas saith unto him, "Lord, we know not whither thou goesT, and how can we know the way?"
6. Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No many cometh unto the Father, but by Me."

CORRECTIONS: none....Yay!

NEW VERSE
John 14:7
"If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also; and from henseforth ye know Him; and have seen Him."

In the Old Testament times, only a few men could claim to have encountered God --Adam, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Elijah, etc. They knew God had spoken to them. They knew God.

Jesus told his disciples that now that He had been with them, they had no excuse to say that they didn't know God. He was God! He was with them. They touched Him; they talked with Him; they ate with Him. Can you imagine the joy mingled with awe when they realized this?

We can't touch God today. We can't walk and talk with Him. But we have no excuse. Psalm 19 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God." We only need to study creation around us to see that there is a God. We have in our hands the record of Christ's life and words. We have the Holy Spirit to teach us.

We have no excuse NOT to know God.

He will speak to you, if you listen.
Have you heard Him recently?

Thanks, Yvonne. You've reminded me again that I need to start memorizing! I love God's word, why is memorizing such a challenge for me? - but I'm newly resolved, thanks to you. I'll pick a passage and begin by Friday.

David said in Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

His word is truth, when placed in our hearts, we will be guided into all truth by the Holy Spirit!

I happened upon your blog and say keep on keeping on in the Lord!
