Spinning Specks

Psalm 8:3,4

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

~ ~ ~

The more we learn about space, we realize how great a God there must be to create it...and how small we are compared to Him.

Our sun is just a speck of light in a swirling eddy of a million other stars. Earth is a rather small planet, the only one with life upon it, locked in a perfect path around the sun. We are but dust upon that earth, living for only a few years.

As arrogant fools, we act as if the universe revolves around us. From the moment we are born, we demand things to done our way. We take pride in our imaginations and accomplishments. In greed, we seek money and fame from our fellow human beings. We make laws and religions according to our own philosophies.

We are nothing compared to God.

Yet, He created all the universe for man. He created us in His image. He breathed His life into us. He knew we would turn away from Him, destined to be separated from His holiness. Still, He orchestrated the wondrous plan of redemption- the only way for justice to be reconciled with grace.

He gave Himself, pure and sinless, to be the sacrifice for man's prideful, selfish, wicked sins. Man - the insignificant speck upon the tiny earth spinning around a small star with millions of other stars in a galaxy among countless other galaxies.

I look up to the skies and ask, "Why God? Why?"

He answers,
"I have loved thee with an everlasting love."

Yes,we are just small specks in the grand scheme of things. I love this entry. It is truthful and right on. Love you, Vonnie. Happy Monday!

It's pretty amazing, isn't it? It's easy to feel like a spinning speck, but so awesome to know I am much more in the sight of God.

Oh, Vonnie! I think I'll stop blog-reading right now, and go to bed with your last line in my heart.

Bless you
