God's Gift

Memorizing God's Word makes it part of our life. It teaches us, comforts us, and keeps us from sin. Will you join me in hiding God's Word in our hearts?

In the following weeks, I hope to memorize Isaiah 55. It is a beautiful message of God's greatness and love toward us. Each week, I will recite what we have learned so far and discuss the meaning of the next verse. I'd love to have you join me in this challenge. You may "recite" in the comments or by email. If you can't say all of them, say just one at a time.

(without looking at my Bible...unless I get stuck)
Isaiah 55:1-3
1. Ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, any ye that hath no money; come ye, buy and eat; yea, come buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

2. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye of that which is good, and let your sould delight itself in fatness.

3. Incline your ear and come unto me; and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

NEW VERSE
(Isaiah 53:4)
"Behold, I have given him as a witness to the people,
a leader and a commander to the people."

This verse is speaking of King David. God chose him when he was just a boy, to be the king of Israel. David wasn't perfect, but he was known as a man after God's own heart.

Acts 13:22
" He raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will."

God gives men to us - to teach us and guide us and protect us. Our governors and presidents and leaders are chosen by God.

Romans 13:1
"Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."

Our pastors are gifts to the church.
They are our shepherds, to guard us
and care for our souls.

Ephesians 4:11
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers"

We are to obey them and respect them
and pray for them.

Hebrews 13:17
"Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."

Do you have a submissive heart and respectful heart?
