"Blood Drive"

I'm happy to introduce Sunny Loomis, a good friend of mine, with an interesting thought for today's post.

Last week I noticed a sign in front of a church up the street for a blood drive. That got me thinking of people who give a pint of blood to help others needing transfusions because of surgery or accidents. They may feel they’re doing a good deed by giving blood. Afterward, they are offered coffee and donuts and go on their way, feeling satisfied.

During this same week our church is having Vacation Bible School. While I was watching the children thoroughly enjoying the water slide on the side lawn, the pastor’s wife related to me that two children had gotten saved that day, a little boy and a girl. Another boy accepted salvation the previous Sunday.

I immediately thought of the sign I had seen earlier.

Christ was having his own blood drive at VBS!

While up the road some of that donated blood will probably help people survive. But that blood is only temporary. It won’t last. Meanwhile Christ is saving more than just lives. He’s saving souls. We, who believe in him, are bought by his shed blood. He gave his life for us out of love--not just a pint of blood to help us out. His blood is all sufficient, and gives everlasting life. No other gift has cost so much or been so great.

Thanks, Sunny! I hope you can be a guest on here again.

Hi! Thank you for stopping by my place *smiling*

You want to know the crazy thing? I didn't write that 30day novel with NANO - at the time, I didn't know there was a NANO! *laughing* - I did it because a professor friend of mine who tought at LSU said he was challenging himself to write a novel in 30 days, so I wanted to see if I could do it-- crazy, but fun!
