A New Baby!

I would like to announce
that Anna and Chris Raymond
are the proud parents of

CARTER WAYNE RAYMOND
born
December 26, 2008
6:30 PM
weighing 8 lbs. 4 oz.

In my childbearing days, it was not common to know whether your baby would be a girl or boy before their birth. But today, it is rare not to know. At first, I wasn't sure I liked the idea. But I have enjoyed thinking of this new child as Carter for a few months now. We just didn't know what he looked like yet!

I had the priviledge of being in the room while he was being born, and it was beautiful experience. I was so proud of my daughter and her husband as they worked as a team through the tiring process of labor. Tears often came to my eyes as Chris lovingly helped Anna to focus on him, helping her through every breath and push.

What a glorious sound to hear little Carter give that cry of life. (although at first, he didn't cry but calmly looked around him) To every woman in the world, a newborn is the most beautiful thing, but Carter has reddish blond hair and round cheeks and long legs and fingers. (hopefully, I can post a picture soon)

There's a lot of happy relieved people around here. He is the first grandchild on both sides of the family. I am praying that this child will be a way to bring people together and to the Lord.

Thank you everyone for praying!

That would be awesome to be in the room with Anna. I had 3 emergency c-sections so I still have dreams of having babies naturally. Weird, I know. :)

I can't wait to see pictures. Make sure you get some of you and Carter together, too!

Congrats "Mamma" Vonnie! I remember my mother being present for the birth of our third child. It was very comforting to have her and my husband there. WOW, you're a grandma now, that is so awesome!!!
