Baby Showers, Birthdays, and Bells

This has been a busy weekend for our family.

My father and my youngest son share the same birthday, November 8th. My father turned 74 and my son is 19. Silly me decided that since family would be coming home to celebrate, it would be a good time to have a baby shower. It sounded sensible.

I had awoken early, knowing my son was driving home through the night. It was super foggy and my imagination got carried away with scary pictures in my mind. I finished knitting the baby blanket and checked emails while I waited for him to get home. The rest of the morning, I cleaned and cooked and wrapped presents.

The shower went well, with lots of friends and laughter. Our family filled our house with more food and presents and chatter to celebrate the birthdays. Some headed out to attend a play at a nearby high school. I could barely keep my eyes open.

The next morning, I could hardly move. My back was so sore! We were expecting missionaries, Bryan and Emily Bell, at our church and having a potluck dinner. That meant preparing some lasagna. They have three beautiful children, and it was good to get to know them and how God is leading in their lives.

We enjoyed the evening with our children, watching a movie and talking and eating leftovers. It was good to have them home for awhile.

It's quiet again today. The house is a mess again, but that's okay. It's a good mess because of the good times associated with it. I'm ready to get back to my schedule of writing and laundry and daily mundane things.

Lord, help me to be thankful for my family and the times we have together. Amen

So glad you all had a great time! We really want to see a picture of the baby blanket you knitted. Don't forget! Hope you're not so sore today. Praying for you...
