"For the love of money is the root of all evil"
Let's face it; our society is based on money, but we have to learn how to put it into perspective....starting when our children are young.
Even a two or three year old knows about money. They know it buys things.
Kids love piggy banks, or whatever shape appeals to you or them. Let them put your loose change in their bank. It increases hand coordination. They can learn to count the clinks. Teach them the names of the coins when they are very little.
They don't understand tithing,of course, but they can be excited about putting a quarter or dime in the offering plate as it comes around at church.
Teach them think of others by putting money in donation jars.
Let them hear you say, "No, we don't need to buy that.", " We don't have enough money for that.", "We need to save our money to buy that."
Money is not bad, it just needs to used wisely. Teach it to them when they are young.
I plan to have a series of posts about this subject:
TODDLERS, YOUNG CHILDREN, EARLY TEENS, OLDER TEENS.
Watch for them in the upcoming weeks.
