Walking With God

Genesis 5: 24 "and Enoch walked with God; and he was not; for God took him."

Wow... How did Enoch walk with God? What did they talk about? How did his walk with God fit into his daily life? I wish the Bible told us more about Enoch...about his life and family.

According to my Bible timeline, Adam didn't die until Enoch was almost 300 years old! They could have and probably spent hours talking together. Adam could have told him of the time before the Fall when he fellowshiped with God in the Garden.

"...for God took him." What did his family think? Were they puzzled...angry...sad? We feel all of these emotions when somone dies, especially if they are young and good and have a family. We don't understand why God would "take" them.

I heard of a child who explained this story this way: "Enoch and God were taking a walk and having a good time talking together. At the end of the day, they were closer to God's house than Enoch's house. So, God said, 'Why don't you come home with me?' "

Lord, help us to yearn for a close relationship with You. Teach us to listen to Your voice and to turn to You with all our joys and hurts throughout the day. May the hope of heaven be the knowledge that we will be with You for all eternity. In Jesus' Name, Amen

OOH - I love the image that the child gave you, that you so graciously shared with us. Children often make the complicated SO clear, don't they? A wonderful message, and the cry of my heart :)

I hope I'm walking closer and closer to God's home than my own so He will eventually carry me on the rest of the way, too. What a great concept! What a thing to think about today. Thanks, Vonnie!

I love looking at the timelines, Vonnie--it helps fitting all the pieces together. I loved the little's guys story--too cute.

Beautiful, Vonnie! Love that idea of walking on up to Heaven with the Lord one day! Very sweet and what an awesome thing to strive for: to walk with God each and every day as though we'll be face to face with Him soon.
