"Never Give Up"

In watching the Olympics this week, I've been impressed with the dedication of the athletes. They have sacrificed and strived toward being their best. I should have that same attitude toward my life. I should be willing to sacrifice and strive toward being my best for my Lord.

NEVER GIVE UP

Does it seem you are alone,
When the right thing should be done?
It’s hard to stand for what is right and good.
So be strong in what you do;
God is there to see you through;
There’s vict’ry when you do the things you should.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

Noah listened to God’s Word,
Though his neighbors said, “Absurd!
Why fear a flood on such a sunny day?”
Noah preached and built the ark;
People laughed and would not hark;
But God was pleased that Noah did obey.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

Caleb saw God’s mighty hand,
As they left th’ Egyptian land,
He knew that God would always see them through.
Giants did not frighten him;
Caleb pleaded to begin;
The land was theirs if only they were true.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

Joseph’s brothers planned and schemed,
And they laughed at what he dreamed.
They sold him as a slave and thought him dead,
Joseph did not fret nor fear,
For he knew that God was near.
And then God turned the bad to good instead.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

David was a shepherd lad,
Not in armor was he clad,
He knew that to be silent would be wrong.
He knew that he was right,
And he trusted in God’s might,
Goliath tumbled to the earth headlong.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

Gideon called his army near,
“Are there any that have fear?”
And many turned back home again that day.
God only chose a few,
To show them He was true,
And the all hosts of Midian fled away.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

Bartimaeus, old and blind,
Heard that Jesus was so kind,
He’d often healed the blind, and deaf, and lame;
Bartimaeus raised his voice,
For he thought he had no choice,
Jesus healed his sight, and took away his shame.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

Paul traveled far and near;
So that many folks could hear
About the good news God had given him.
He was beaten, jailed, and stoned,
Shipwrecked, hungry, and alone,
His zeal, it never weakened nor grew dim.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

So if you’re feeling small,
And the enemy is tall,
It seems your spark of hope has almost died,
Just recall those men of old,
Who had hearts so brave and bold;
Remember that the Lord is on your side.

Never give up,
Never drop out,
Although you think that you’re the only one.
Keep on going,
Keep on running
Until at last life’s final race is won.

Oh how I love this poem! What a good reminder to... Never Give Up! So many times we "feel" like we just have to give up, because things seems so hopeless, but God has other ideas. Jeremiah 29:11

Thanks!
