Monday Manna "Good Thoughts"

Philippians 4:8
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
What we think controls are speech. It controls our attitudes. It controls our actions. Do we harbor bitterness toward someone? Are we worried? Do we daydream about something forbidden? Others may not see our thoughts, our "hidden" lives- but God knows our deepest secrets. He knows even the parts we dare not admit to ourselves.
My father used to say, "You might not be able to keep a bird from landing on your head, but you can keep him from building a nest there."
In other words, you may have an ungodly thought enter your mind. In this sinful world, it's hard NOT to have it happen. But, you don't have to let it stay in your mind. Get in the habit of sending it away.
Ephesians 4:31-32
"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
Don't let the "What-ifs" (the fear of the future) control your mind. Don't replay former incidents, wishing the past was different. Replace those sinful thoughts with godly thoughts - those of purity, loveliness, good, virtue, praise-worthy. Play some worshipful music. Read God's Word. Pray for someone. Visit a strong, godly person.
Live today for the Lord. Live in the confidence that God is in control. He is just. He is pure. He is lovely.

I love your thoughts on this verse.
I really like your Daddy's saying!
You summed it up so well, "Live today for the Lord. Live in the confidence that God is in control. He is just. He is pure. He is lovely."
Thanks, Teresa. My daddy is a wise man. My Heavenly Father is too!
I love your dad's saying too - a wonderful reminder to not "keep" those fleeting thoughts around. Thanks for participating, dear Vonnie!
