I mentioned to my mother that God answered prayer. She said, "but I prayed FOR rain! My garden is all dry and withering." Yes, I noticed that too. All the lawns are turning brown. The flowers have gone to seed. The lush look of early summer has passed. The ground is thirsty.
The kids at VBS were thirsty too, not just for water, but for God's living water. I had forgotten that look in their faces, when they soak up the truth of God's Word. Some have never heard of creation, the origin of sin, or even the story of Noah and the Flood. They hadn't heard of God's plan of salvation. To teach it to them was liking pouring water on dry plants.
It's raining this week. It started to rain during our closing program on Friday. About 100 people were there and heard the Gospel. My omnipotent God held off the rain until the end of VBS. It's been raining everyday since then, and also predicted to rain all this week. We need it.
"He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass; as showers that water the earth." Psalm 72:8
Lord, water the souls who are thirsting for the truth. I pray for an abundance of rain. May I also feel the satisfaction of your Word each day. In Jesus' Name, Amen
Showers of blessing we need.
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead."

Beautiful post. Yes, our God answers prayer. He is worthy to be praised. I stand in awe of Him.
The rain is just one of the many blessings He pours out each day, isn't it? I'm so glad the Lord brought blessings to your VBS last week!
So glad you had a great VBS week! Also glad you all are getting the much-needed rain. Miss reading your blog entries every day. I'll be up and running again soon (I hope)
Just beautiful, dear. God is so faithful.
